I need to rebuild a 90' head to fit onto my 93'. Would there be a problem? Would would be good parts to replace. I plan on boiling the head to get any gunk out of it. Where is a good place to find stock replacement lifters and springs? What esle should be replaced?

i got mine at advance auto parts,had to order,but only takes a day.i've got a 2.8l but they should have yours.i look my parts up online,get the part number and price then go to the store.most part stores have a website now.hope this helps.

The '90 head will fit fine.

Just about any auto parts store will stock, or can get HLAs, not sure I'd bother changing the springs. If you've got the time, I suggest Rockauto.com. They were 1/4 of the price ($30 vs. $120) of everyone else on the brake drums for my truck.

Are you going to have a valve job done on the head?

I will have the head checked out by a local machine shop. Make sure there are no cracks and the head isn't warped or anything. The problem I have with my truck are the lifters and they are being really loud. It's annoying and I want the problem fixed because I will eventually be selling the truck. I don't want the noise to detract people from buying. I will also make sure the valves seat properly. But would a valve job strongly recomended? I don't have gobs of money to lay down and don't want to replace things that don't need to be messed with. Thanks.

No, I don't suppose I would say strongly recommended. Though I'm sure the future purchaser would appreciate if it were done. But, then again, I doubt that they would be willing to pay anymore for the truck at that time due to it being done.

Ok.. I'll just check to see if the valves seat right, and if they are really outa wack I'll go ahead with the valve job. Other than that, I just plan on a refresh not really a rebuild. Thanks.
