Odd problem.........

on my own vehicle. It is blowing the orifice tube into the bottom of the evaporator. 94 Explorer. A friend says his did the same thing. He changed the evaporator to fix. Damn it to hell, I don't want to do that. I'm hoping there is a service bulletin for an easy fix. Gonna go by Ford tomorrow and see if there is a bulletin.:(shady
 
Isn't there a crimp in the evap inlet line to keep the orifice tube in place? Also, have you seen the evaporator "repair kits" (~$20 NAPA, AutoZone etc.)? You cut off a few inches of evap inlet and screw on a new piece which holds the orifice tube. I bought one when I thought I had a leak in my inlet line but ended up not using it.

Repair kit fixed the problem. Napa part #201060, $18. It cools fine even with two orifices in the bottom of the evaporator.:)shady
 
Pretty funny....

I'd expect that to work just fine. But is it possible the blow-outs are due to the orifices getting plugged?
 
2nd orifice was new. Blew out almost immediately. They shouldn't blow out at all, even if they are plugged. The crimps in the line are almost non-existant. With the kit, you cut them out. New orifice still working fine.:)shady
