The "Water cooled" turbos only have a water cooled bearing housing

There are two ports, it really doesn't matter how the hoses are connected to them. (presuming you keep your rubber hoses away from the glowing hot (literally) turbine housing)

I personally believe that on a T-03 Garrett turbo it doesn't actually matter if you connect them at all, because though the mere presence of water keeps the bearing housing cooler, this doesn't actually cool the part of the bearing housing that needs to be cooled most... the turbine-side bearing oil drain passage.

THAT is where the bearing housing "cokes up" and once it becomes clogged oil starts to seep past the "seal" (seal in quotes for a reason) and into the exhaust.

Basically the water coling makes some people "Feel good",
but doesn't do a whole bunch more, it does nothing to
prevent trouble if you don't exercise proper cooldown
proceedures, I.E. let the engine and turbo cool off with
the engine still running and circulating oil.

The Cooling on the IHI turbo ('87-88 turbocoupe)
is a bit more effective, but though the IHI is good for low end power and quick spoolup it is not the turbo everyone chooses for max power.
