I have a 96 super cab 2.3 5 speed with a 7.5 open diff 3.73 ratio.available for free is a 99 8.8 L/S 3.73 ratio.does anyone know if this is a direct bolt in.It seems to be but I'm not sure of the bolt pattern on the drive shaft flange. Is it worth the effort(though not too difficult)to change rears just to get the L/S?

may have to convert to Soa and the drveline flange is easy. just drill new holes use a tap dye set to rethread it and there u go. i got a flange on my b2that fits 2 different setups. replace the clutch packs in the LSD

It's worth the effort in that the 8.8 is stronger, and the LS will be nice.

Not needed...Ranger axles are already SOA. Explorer 8.8s are SUA.

To repack the LS means to take the clutches and steels out and put new ones in. It is likely that your LS wont be too bad but If you re-order the steels and clutches, it will perform much better.

The way it comes is in this order: SCSSCSSCS.

Why they use 2 steels between each clutch i dont know

You can put more clutches in there by reordering it to: SCSCSCSCSCS

It can give you a 50% or better increase in tightness.
