Hi all,

I am trying to finish wiring up a 2.9 L I put in '84 BII. The 2.9 is from a '88 BII.
When I turn on the ignition I hear the ECM relay, and the fuel pump relay. But... the fuel pump relay shuts off after about 2-3 seconds. Any ideas on this? I thought it should stay on.
I just installed the relay as well. It seems the old one blew up, along with my fuel pumps. I get good continuity and power to the harness. Just get that odd behavior. I will be replacing the fuel pumps both on the rail and in the tank in a few days when I have the money. Any insight on this would be much appreciated. Thanks.

Fuel pump relay shutting off right after key is on

hi, this is riverranger,I'm having the same problem., as soon as Iturn key on ,the fuel pump relay shuts off as if something's tripping it.Did you ever find out what was causing this? If you did Iwould sure like to know.

If it stays on all the time then it will just be draining your battery. All it does in those 2-3seconds is prime the system. Our family's Astro van does it, my brother in laws F-150 does it.

My system stays on all the time when I trun the key, but when I turn it off it stays on an additional 6 seconds to do what Fords says "it prevents vapor lock." I'm running a TBI system out of an 84 T-bird.

So its normal.

thanks for the info,Idid'nt know that.
