Hi, this is my first post and i hope that i get everything right. I was wondering what it takes to swap a OHC 4.0L into a 92 explorer
A whole heck of a lot of wiring skills.
You need everything related to emissions, including the computer, exhaust, sensors, and so on.

it's actually not that hard. You have to adapt to your wiring/ computer. you will loose your ac, due to heads being too wide, you have to get motor and full front dressing (alt, power steering pump, ect) theres a bunch of egr stuff on the sohc to clean up. The biggest problem is the tranny. Unless you have a 5spd, you will have to upgrade $$ big time. An a4ld will not hold a sohc, not stock anyways

Many of the sensors are the same, The ex y-pipe bolt right onto the ohv 4.0l and sohc the same. UNless you want to re-wire the entire truck you run them off the obd1 setup, the biggest problem is you'll have to find a return style fuel lines and drill and tap a hole in the oil pan for the low oil sensor.
