vam???

I'm getting the final parts together for my swap, I have the motor out of an 86? Merkur and it's going into my 89 Ranger, the motor is together, I'm piecing together all the electrical sensors on the engine exterior, I have a Pk-1 computer and a wiring harness out of a supposed Merkur (it was given to me)

Here's my question.

I don't have any type of air meter in the intake (vam?), I've been getting parts off of a 2.3L mustang at the junk yard and it has some type of air meter on it, can this be used or do I need one off of a turbo specific car?

The PK1 uses a small VAM if I remember correctly. I have one lying around if you need it. $25 shipped.
