how much did you need? I'm looking at getting a herculiner kit, and I want to do the interior of my BII (take out carpet, clean up little interior floor rust, line it), and after I get body work done, I'm planning on doing the whole exterior. Any idea how much you think it'll take? I can get a kit for just over $100, and $31 a QT a little over 1 hour away in Port Huron, MI (not to mention there is a cracker barrel literally only 2 miles away...sweet)

I'm planning on calling my local carquest, but I don't know how much more $$$ they'll want. I'll know tommorrow.

How much (if any, but I'm assuming I'll need more) extra do you think it'll take?

Here is some better stuff, look at some of the gallery pics. it's a bit more expensive, but better and you can get colors. ALso each gallon covers 60sq ft at 2 coats. so all you need to do is take measurements. I am doing my winch bumpers with it, making a rock guard with it about 2.5 inches along the bottom, and also I am going to do my fender flares in it. I bought the dark grey textured. http://www.durabakcompany.com/response.htm

I thought about durabak, but I'm probably going to go with herculiner. Easier to get and cheaper (budget build)

I priced it out here:

TSC in Port Huron - $103 kit, $31 QT

TSC in my town - $199 kit, $31 QT

TSC in a bigger (x10 the size) town north of me - $119 kit, $31 QT

Carquest in my town - $240 kit, $75 QT

yeesh...

Walmart has a roll on bedliner that's decent quality. A buddy of mine did his rockers, bumpers and push bar and it's holding up great. About $45 a gallon IIRC.

you can get durabak on their website, order it for 95.00 for black textured a gallon shipped to you. and the grey was 104.00 shipped per gallon to me. all other colors I think are a bit more expensive, but if you are doing black, you can get it cheaper than that herculiner/gallon and it's shipped to your house, no driving.

I'm not sure what shipping may be outside the U.S...I may have to call them just to see

If your gonna do inside and out, I would purchase 2 gallons. I've done a BII with about 5.5 quarts but that didn't include the jams of the floor.

that was inside and out? hmm...so like, a kit and 4 QT's or so...or would I need like 2 kits and 3 QT's?

It say's on the herculiner website that you need:
-1 QT of Xylene (Xylol) Acetone or MEK Solution (surface prep)
-Making Tape
-Paint Roller pan
-Gloves
-Stir stick / drill mixer

sound right?

It say's the kit includes:

1 gallon of protective coating
2 rollers for easy application
1 abrasive pad for scuffing/prepping bed
1 roller handle
1 gallon can opener
1 - 2" brush for tight spots/corners
Plus: Bed liner application instructions in English, French, and
Spanish AND application instructions for other uses (also in
English, French, and Spanish).

so maybe, get 2 kits, and one extra quart? or the one kit an like, 5 quarts?
probably cheaper just to get 2 kit's I'd imagine...

yep, I had to by xylene also known as xylol for my durabak stuff in order to spray it. It was under the name Xylol at Menards for 4.00 for a quart. you only need to put in a 10 percent solution of it. I would buy 2 kids, because that way you can make sure to have good coverage and I know if a guy who took his leftovers and put it in a smaller can like a coffee can and then use a vaccum sealer like for foods and sealed it for later use. he said a year later he opened it up and it was good as new for touch-ups.

Thats what I did, but i did the request for 3 different colors, so I filled out the form 3 different times, they must have caught on because they shipped all 3 in the same envelope :)

The stuff I used was called "Raptor" The canister screws into an air gun(don't know if its included with the kit) and it sprays nice and even with very little overspray. It looks smooth yet rugged.

ive been thinking about bed lining my rocker panels front bumper, rear bumper an fender flares with some sort of bed liner...... i used that dupli color bed lining in the spray can an i did the bumpers an fender flares it came out alright but iam looking for something that might be a bit more rugged... my rear bumper its chipping a lil here an their.. would the brush on stuff be any better for 16 bucks a qt?
