Hi guys. I just wanted to let you know that I have found your tech articles very interesting. (Not to mention helpful.)
I also want to brag on my '93 Ranger XLT 2.3L that I bought in 1993 when it was practically new. (Less than 8k miles.) I was young at the time and had never financed a car so I got a horrible interest rate but it turned out to the the best investment I have ever made.
289k miles and 15 years later it runs like new. I did the headgasket at 225k miles and I put a new IAC valve on last week. Other than that it has never broken down. Sure, things have worn out (ie: motor mounts, clutches, brakes, etc.) but I don't consider those as breaking down.
I recently installed relays and new hot wires for both the low and high beams for the headlights. It made a world of difference and I recommend it for anyone who hasn't done it yet.
My sliding glass window latch broke last week (it was the third one) and I saw the writeup in the tech articles for installing the '94 and up style latch. I just got done installing it and I love it! (Ford wants $25 for it but I got mine from Rockauto.com for $12.42 shipped.)
I also saw the article where someone painted his grill and installed gutter guard on the back of it. I liked the idea so I did that too, but my chrome is new so I left it alone.
The best part is that with careful driving I managed to get 29.8 miles per gallon! That is better than many new cars out there today. I got my A/C working last week so my average is down to about 26.
I have always beat on the truck pretty hard and it shows on the outside. (Well, until I did the head gasket... then I started taking it easy.) The body is pretty banged up and the whole front suspension needs rebuilding. I plan to rebuild the suspension and drive it for another 300k miles. :D I love this truck and I don't think I will ever get rid of it.

Welcome aboard!

West Georgia here, and similar story with my '94. These 2.3's will run forever!
