new CB- need help.

i just picked up a cobra 19 ultra III is it any good? i hooked it up and its not clear, the grounds good and the power. whats the best way to tune these little guys. i have a fire stick whip 2 1/2' long. thanks.

borrow or buy an SWR meter,follow the instructions for use.

look under the cap on the firestick to see if it has the adjustable bolt in the end for tuning.

some guys talk about the quality and length of the co-ax cable being important as well.

where is it mounted? it won't get good reception if its mounted low on the truck.

it is on my mounted on my tool box in the bed right behind the window.
