I was wondering if a Jeep D35 ring and pinion is the same as the ring and pinion in my 94 ranger D35, in other words can they(Jeep) gears be used in my ranger...:dntknw: Thanks for any help...

If I remember right the front of the ranger in a reverse rotation gear and the jeep is standard, which makes them non interchangable.

If I'm wrong someone pipe up!!

The all TTB Rangers have a reverse rotation in the gearing.

The '98+ Ranger SLA Dana 35 has a standard rotation like the Jeeps.

HOWEVER, the TTB Dana 35 CAN use the Jeep Dana 35 carrier; incase you buy a Jeep Dana 35 locker.

I was just looking to switch ring and pinion, a buddy of mine has some 4:10's that I wanted to switch with my 3:73's.. That blows that idea! Anyone have 4:10 for a 35 and a 8.8.. Thanks for the help!!!

The proper term is Reverse Cut gears. Not reverse rotation. Reverse rotation means your axle is spinning the wrong way.

Well if you put a rear axle in the front of a truck and spun the pinion the same direction, the wheels would spin (rotate) backwards rather than forwards.

Which is why usually a front axle has the reverse cut/rotation gears and the same axle in the back end of a truck has standard cut/rotation. The ring gear needs to rotate the other direction.
