"Finally, by the end of 2012, the Ranger is scheduled to return to the US showrooms. Last year, the F-100 was evaluated as a potential global replacement for the Ranger, but it was not awarded this prestigious position. Instead, Ford’s Australian branch was tasked with developing a brand new small truck platform dubbed T6. Unlike the current “Thai” Ranger or the upcoming F-100, the T6 “Global” Ranger is to return to its humble compact roots. The size will be very close to the current North American Ranger, and it might even shrink. The result is to be a one world-beating small truck that is happy to run on four-cylinder power. This new truck is to replace all the different Rangers around the world, along with the Bantam, Courier, and other locally-designed Ford compact trucks. While 2012 is a ways away, the T6 Ranger is being developed with US sales in mind"

The page doesn't exist anymore. Anyways, I also heard that Ford is really considering extending Ranger's production by as much as two years. My friend told me yesterday.

I have an account on the ford media site.

According to that site:

Twin Cities (Minn.) Assembly Plant – which was scheduled to close in 2009 – will continue production of the Ford Ranger through 2011 to meet consumer demand for the compact pickup.
I don't see Ford dropping the Ranger name. They use it world wide now and it's to well known. It would be like renaming the F-150.

Look at the Taurus. They renamed it the 500, and then switched back to the Taurus name.

1) I don't think knows what they want to do yet.

2) I think they want to keep its replacement under wraps for a while.

If they tell me, and I tell you, and it spreads across the net, it puts Ford in a position where they feel obligated to follow through. When they're ready to commit, they'll tell us.

i think that expanding the truck line to include the f-100 mid size to direstly compete with trucks such as the dakota and a smaller ranger to follow the compact pickup market would be a great idea. i think producing the bronco would be icing on the cake.

you say the new bronco concept has a solid axle? that would be excellent but would it look like the concept that was released a few years ago? because that one has IFS. If they ever do produce it ill have to buy one especially if it does come with solid axles of resonable strength.

In these days when everybody wants a truck that rides like a car, I don't see anybody releasing a solid axle truck. IMO

I also think that Ford should stop spending so much time/resources on building more SUVs and focus on smaller cars. Maybe then they would actually make some money.
