I would like to put a 5sp on my 5.0 for my ranger. I read that a t-5 would be relocated right next to the seat due to the shifter being on the tail of the tranny. Then some one told me that a Tremec 5sp has more than one spot to install a shifter. Now does that mean that the actual shifter can be unbolted out of one spot and physically be rebolted to one of the other spots, or does that mean something else?

The only tremec transmission that has 2 places for a shift is the T-56. That is a six speed. Yes it can be done but you'll need to shell out the money for one and have to disassemble the transmission to get to the shift rail. I just sold a six speed for $1700 used with 60,000 and change on it. I pulled it apart before I sold it, cleaned it and checked the sychro's.
You could however get a T-5 and put the shift rail (plate on top of transmission) and tail shaft housing from an S-10, that would work for your swap. That would only give you about 8 inches of forward mounting for your shifter in the truck.

I thought they made a midshift kit for the 1350 tranny?

By the time he bought all the parts to make it work he would be better to get the S-10 parts.

What do you mean by using S-10 parts? I asked someone that on a different forum and they said that the S-10 tranny isn't tough enough for a V-8. Some clarification would be appreciated.

You're not using the T-5 from the S-10. You are using the T-5 from a 5.0 and putting the top plate and tail shaft in place on the ones from the mustang trans.
