On the 5.0 that I just bought, there seems to be alot of vacuum lines and such. The guy I bought it from even said something about a "coffee can part" and smog emissions parts. This motor came from an 87 F-150 and its EFI-throttlebody. Are most of these parts necessary? I know that if the vacuum stuff is not working properly, then the motor runs like a chain smoker in a marathon(not very well), but is there anything that I should keep and that I should throw?:icon_confused:

it's not a throttle body - it's a batch fire... you still have 8 injectors, it just fires them off 4 to a time.
As long as you have no vacumn leaks, your engine will run decent...
As far as the emissions, the easiest way to figure out what you need is look on the original vehicle, or check in a haynes/chilton/factory manual for the vehicle it came out of. (ie 87 F150)
realistically, you can ditch everything, except for the EGR and o2 sensor, plug it up, and it will run fine. It won't pass emissions/visual/tailpipe testing, or be legal federally but it will run just fine.
