94 Ranger, a4ld, Tranny went without warning?? Like it's in Neutral..

Hello, I am wondering if someone might know what happened to my tranny.. Was going up a hill, and suddenly it was like I just shifted into Neutral. No slippage prior to this event, Tranny Fluid checks fine.. it's got me baffled.. Could it just be the torque converter went and not the tranny? Any info is greatly appreciated. Could possibly be that converter went out or the front planets and or sprag went out.

If you put it in D3 or manual low will move, how about reverse?

It has no forward gears and will go in reverse..

Well if it will back up then its not converter, more than likely something internal broke.
