My 153,000 mile stocker clutch in the exploder isn't disengaging completely. When you start the vehicle in first with the clutch in the truck moves forward as the starter turns. The only way you can shift it is by lining up the RPM's and sliding it in. The pedal feels completely normal and the fluid reservoir is completely full.

Anyways, what am I looking at here? Just a new clutch kit or more? Any other time I've had clutches fail they just started slipping real bad. This one doesn't slip at all.

probably a bad slave cyl/master cyl.....i have had to replace ALOT of them.

Yeah but if it was a bad slave or master, wouldn't there be a fluid leak and/or soft pedal? As I said above, the fluid level is normal and the pedal feels like it always has - pretty firm.

I myself was thinking that the fingers on the pressure plate wore out and aren't releasing the disc.

If not the hydraulics it may be the pilot bearing. If it is a bearing and not a bushing it is possible the needles have come loose and locked up on the input shaft. It happened to my Ranger with a 2.3L. About the same labor involved parts a lot lower parts cost.

I just ordered a new Luk clutch kit with a new slave. So I'll get a new pressure plate, disc, throwout bearing, pilot bearing and slave. Got it all for $201 to my door. Not too bad I think.

I'll be installing it all hopefully this weekend if the parts get here fast enough. I'm just replacing everything in there because I'm not taking that tranny off twice!
