Hey everybody. Im planning a BII wheeler project that is gonna run 39.5x13.5 iroks, a full width dana 60, hydraulic assist, and most likely a locker of some kind. I was planning to run a power steering box out of a 1 ton pickup and i was just wondering if the stock '88 BII pump would be enough to power it or do i need to upgrade the pump as well? Do i even need to change out the box? I could be completely wrong but i feel like i wouldnt get steering lock to lock on a full width axle with the stock box (stock box would have a shorter travel cuz its for a narrower axle? :dntknw:) Let me know what you think or if im totally wrong :). Thanks!

The travel you need doesn't depend on the width of the axle. It depends ONLY on the perpendicular distance from the line connecting the balljoints to the tie rod end.

And you can address that issue with a different-length Pitman arm should you need to.

There may be issues of power, but not because of the axle width.

your truck should have the same box as one tons of that vintage as well.like makg is saying if your pitman arm is the same length as the truck with the d60 then it will turn the same amount.sounds like you will want to tap the steering box for hydro assist though.look here and on the web for that.

So the steering box and pump are the same on an '88 Bronco II and an '88 F350??? Thats pretty cool . And what is the stock pump like? Will it do ok with this setup or will i need to upgrade it? I did see the hydro assist tap procedure and will be doing that when the time comes. Thanks guys!
