This would only interest that small percent of you who have stock vehicles. I recently put a rebuilt stock carb on my 1983 2.8 4x4 and while it seemed to run better the milage really stunk....I mean like 10 mpg or so and it pinged a lot regardless of timing. Since it came with a lifetime warranty and I was pretty sure all of the other stuff (timing, no gas leaks etc.) was right I sent it back. In the mean time I installed a rebuilt carb from "National Carburetor Rebuilders" and my milage jumped to almost 19mpg commuting and 22mpg on the highway. This is the first time in 19 years I have seen over 17 mpg with this pick-up. The National carb was beautifully finished and looked just like a new carburetor. All the steel parts were replated and the body was brightly polished. Best of all it works perfect and also has a life time warranty. National carburetors gets my vote.
