How hard would it be and how much would it cost to switch out a Auto trans for a 5 speed manual? What things would i need to do this?? thanks

This topic has been covered a couple times, so feel free to search around.

More info is nice too, like 2WD or 4x4.

You'll need a transmission (4x4 or 2WD M5OD for the 3.0, no other transmission will bolt to the 3.0), flywheel, clutch kit, master and slave cylinder, manual transmission pedal bracket, manual transmission floor plate, manual transmission wiring subharness (or you can keep the auto and splice things like I did), and time.

Price these things out and it will give you a base cost. How hard it is depends on your mechanical ability.

For the time, dollars and effort spent it is most times easer and cheaper to simply sell that ride and get the one you REALLY want.

You obviously have not done research or done the swap. It is much cheaper to do the auto to manual swap than getting different vehicles.

On my '97 Ranger it cost me about $700. On my BII I spent about $650 for the swap.

i paid about 1300 for my swap, all new parts, except computer and the R1 tranny i paid more for so i could get the year warrenty with it, very happy with everything now and i finally get over 300 miles to a tank - never with the auto would i get close to that
