So I just picked up a 76 Chevy Sub 4x4 and it has auto hubs (D44). I was wandering what does it take to convert to manual hubs. I not real familar with the hubs, but there not the ones that bolt on with the allan head bolts. There smooth and it appears that they some how just slip on.

thanks in advance

The job is pretty straight forward. But the new lockout kit and just follow everything from there. Take off the old caps, snap rings, hub fuses and anything else related. Install the new lockouts as the direction say and you are good to go. Is that a full time four wheel drive? If it is you may want to look for a new transfer case.

if it is the full time 4x4 you can also get a part time kit for the t-case that allows you to run it in 2wd

yep if its got the 203 , get the "part time" kit as well.

there was 3 diffrent kinds in the 90's when I use to a shovey truck.

one was a "gear" was real cheap made, and broke with light use

then there was the "block" type that was almost like a lunch box locker,,,never had a problem with this one, but never put it to it limits ethier

and then they came out with a "shaft" one that got rid of the diff in there to make a solid pice.

but maybe if your lucky you got the 205

------------
as for the hubs they are a pull the old ones out, and put the new ones in kid of deal. pretty straight forward.
