I can't figure out what the noise is.. but when I start to stop (slowly) there is a grinding and squeeking (I can hear it over my music). I believe it's the drivetrain? Sounds like two peices of metal rotating and hitting against eachother at certain points...

It is not the breaks and it doesn't do it while the car is at a stand still. Isn't bad when speeding up but worse when cruising.

:fie:
Any ideas? I don't want to go looking around if I don't know what to be looking at or for.

Are you sure it's not the brakes?
Perhaps the pads are worn down to metal...

Or maybe wheel bearings?

Is it in the front or back?

I checked all the fuilds, all fine.

When I'm coming to the stop the noise comes from the front, when I am cruiseing it comes from the center of the truck.
Nothing from the back.

the drum brake linkages in the rear in those vehicles are notorious for coming apart and getting caught up in the drums, it happened to me and made awful sounds. Can you tell where the noise is roughly coming from...ie front or back etc. Did you recently change anything or did some off roading recently?

I did do some off roading a week ago, but the noise has been going on before that. I haven't changed anything.
The noise doesn't come from the rear of the truck though, its all in the front or center.

Drum brakes in the back, disc in the front.

my truck sounded like that and i could not find anything with visual inspection.however, picked up $10 u-joint,pulled rear joint and where needle bearings and grease were supposed to be rust fell out, lots of it.replaced both joints, quiet as a mouse now.

i saw your driveshaft pics and mine looked the same.

Well today I am going to fix the tire, u-joints, and possibly the disc brakes (I look at them and they are getting to a fixing stage).

Can't hurt to have new pieces on the truck :)

Uh.. I had to drive over to my dads today. I had not changed the tire yet but all the noise is gone besides some squeeking from the brakes (the normal)
What the hell?
