1997 ranger xlt ext cab 4x4........help!!

i need new front axle shafts, atleast, i think i do. but im not sure if i have 28 or 31 slpined axles. plz help. if at all possible, i dont want to pull diff. cover off, its my only vehicle rightnow.

well it all depends do you have a dana 28 or a dana 30 if its a dana 28 then it is 23 but if you have a dana 30 then its 27.

if it is a 97 it is a dana 35...and why do you need an axil?...and there is really no diff cover...well there is but it is the i beem.....tell use what is going on and maby we can help you out....

You have a Dana 35. Why do you think you need a new axle shaft?
