Had to stay home and dogsit this weekend so Heather and I went and walked around the dam.

Saw a bunch of dead fish that didn't follow when the water receeded.

I keep thinking that those tires look small.

Those are stock replacement. The ones I took off looked even smaller.

But your right, I would guess there is about a foot of space between the tires and the fender.

However, I parked next to a 2WD ranger today and his tires and wheels were smaller in diameter than my rims alone.

Hey, I drive a 2wd Ranger..
Mine look big for it though, 225-70R15 tires.

Smaller tires give you a better payload though, as long as they can take the weight.

Looks beautiful up around there. All I have is mountains and trees where I live.

I would LOVE to live in the mountains....Believe me.. The area where I took the pictures looks nothing like where I live.

Picture arabs and beat up cars and you will get a good image of my neighborhood.

That's why we like going up there, it is serenity close to home.

Closest place I could go for somewhere as nice as those pictures is Otsego lake, and thats a few hours away.

How do smaller tires give you a better payload?

The important thing is square inches of air on the ground and pounds per square inch. Smaller tires have less square inches and need more pounds per square inch. A standard 235/85-16, which is what is standard on every 3/5 and 1-ton pickup for the last 40 years is rated at 3,084# of load at 80psi. No SRW truck (3/4 or 1-ton) has a rear axle rating higher than that because the tires won't hold it. To exceed that limit, you need duallies.

Everytime I've overloaded my pickup the bumpstops hit long before the tires threaten the fenders.

Next time we overload the dodge I'll get you a picture.

I remember climbing those stairs. I went visited friends in Columbus and they took us to that park. Beautiful place.....

Question, Those steps leading into the water are on the higher
lake side right? There used to be a picnic area below the dam but it looks flooded...

It's still there.. Those steps are about halfway between the dam spillway and the picnic are you mentioned.

We were there Saturday night and the sunset was awesome, but I didn't know I was going, therefore I did not have the camera!
