Picked this bad boy up for $0, thats right 100% free boys and girls :headbang:. It's a '79 Yamaha XS750 in amazing condition. 11,000 miles, minimal rust and a nice coat of dust. Here's to gettin good gas mileage from here on out :icon_cheers:

Needs a tuneup and 3 rubber boots connecting the carb to the head.

I doused the carb with carb cleaner, inside and out and started shinin her up.

It's amazing what a lil elbow grease can do. This is gonna be so sweet when it's done. More pics comin soon :yahoo:

Nice find! Keep showing pics as it progresses. I like those older bikes.

I'm a Yammie man myself but I like all bikes.

I have a 96 WR250 I use to put around in the Rockies plus..................

alright so i'm callin it a day. I got it in the garage (quite a chore, that thing weighs 500lbs+ and the tires are low) and up on its kickstand (another HELLUVA chore). I spent a little time with steel wool on all the chrome and it looks pretty good. Now i'm waitin on parts (carb-to-head boots and an air filter) they'll be here on tuesday, hopefully, and then i'll put her back together :icon_hornsup: oh and i should probly get a battery too...

speedo goes up to 140 :woot: that's exciting

It's nice to see that you're fixing it up. I'm sure it'll make a nice ride for you. I see quite a few bikes from that era around here but they aren't in nice shape. But when I see one that is in almost pristine condition, I gotta give the guy some kudos. I'm gonna follow this thread :icon_thumby:

Well, i've done pretty much all i can do till parts get here. Took the front wheel off to take it to get a new tire, got some spark plugs, ordered a new battery. Some more time with steel wool, armor all and some skilled use of a rattle can and she's lookin pretty good! I can't wait till tuesday, i wanna here her run SOOO BAD! :icon_bounceblue:

I put the body pieces on just to see how she'll look and now im torn...part of me says paint it all black but the other part of me says leave it; keep it original. Seeing as how i've already spent plenty of money on this project and it doesn't even run yet, i'll probly just leave it. Besides the paint ain't that bad... :dntknw:
