hey, not sure if this has ever been brought up but i was wondering what the difference between piggyback and remote reservior, or are they the same thing just one mounted on the shock its self and the other is made so you can moount else where???

They are the same thing, except the resi can be mounted else where. They are both just a place for extra fluid.

if im not mistaken, piggybacks are intended for the rear susp., where as reservoirs are universal!

thanks for the info i thought they were the same just for different mounting purposes

The front usually has more space issues with the engine, exhaust, steering, the arc of the tires turning... Other than the space problems, the piggybacks should work just fine on the front.

They're universal unless specifically noted otherwise. Remote mounts have a couple advantages. They can be mounted where there's more space and they can be mounted in cooler or safer positions. Internal valving can be set to weight, driving style, terrain and other considerations. The reservoirs actually are not so much for oil capacity as they are for high speed compliance of the shock. When a sharp edge is hit the oil may not flow thru the internal valving fast enough and is displaced into the reservoir moving a piston and compressing the pressurized nitrogen until oil flow can equalize in the shock.
