hey i want to buy a flowmaster and i was wondering if anyone had one on a 2.9L ranger and could post a sound clip. If anyone has a super40 on theres and could post that would be great but i will listen and like any thanks and i look forward to hereing them

HansB2, i think i spelled his name right, has a flowmaster on his 2.9. Just try to look his name up. He is all over the forums here.

Here's mine, this video it has no cat so it's louder and a bit deeper than yours would be with stock cats, it now has a single aftermarket cat, it sounds pretty much the same except a bit quieter. It's also a side exit, you can see it in this pic.

witch 40 series is that and that does sound nice also what is a cat again and what did you do to it sorry if i dont know much only sixteen also how much higher pitched would mine be i was also thinking about a 3" pipe so how much higher pitched would it be thanks for replying

A Cat is a Catylitic converter, it's up stream of the muffler and helps clean the exhaust, it is highly illegal to tamper with them or remove them BTW. The factory exhaust has the cat split up into 2 parts, I'm running a single aftermarket cat so it's a bit louder than stock but there is no power increase to be had from removing or replacing the cats. The larger the pipe generally the deeper the exhaust will be, 2 1/2" is more than enough for a 2.9. Mine is a regular 40 series.

what do you think a super 40 would sould like on a 2.9 and how much higher pitched would it be. and would it sound better with a 3" pipe
