Will I need any flywheel shims to install the M50D-R1 and the 4.0 clutch onto my 2.9?
 
nope
 
I have no idea. I was searching for a clutch kits on a parts store website and it had flywheel shims on it.
 
i guess you would just use the m5od block off plate and try to put a bolt or two in the bottom of the bellhousing where the 4.0l oil pan bolts up so the plate won't rattle?
