We're not going to be letting people use things like tiny url - no hiding the links. Yeah, I know why it's useful, but we can't have people linking in ways that prevents users from seeing the site they could be going to.

If you have any questions PM me

Doesn't make any sense unless you alter the way the rest of the board works. Case in point...

Yahoo! (http://www.google.com)

Not really. I can put my mouse over your "Yahoo" link and see that it's really Google without clicking it. I could also cut'n'paste the link location, or view the page source.

tiny url works at another level. It's a URL redirect.

Ahh, yeah, that's true.

Though, I bet most people would just click anyway. It could also become cumbersome to the admins to hover over every link. But, if it's policy it's policy -- gotta do what ya gotta do.

MAKG has it right. i can tell you're linking to google there

tiny url is the only one that i know of offhand, but other linking sites would be included as well

for large urls just change it to text like you did above, and we're all happy

Yeah, I think most prudent people hover on things like >>>THIS<<< (http://www.fordvehicles.com/trucks/ranger/compare/details/?vehicles=21897|20839|22147|19976) before clicking. But if it sneakily sends you to >>>THIS<<< while you're at work, you're fawked.
