Hey guys i have a 7.5 axle out of a ranger that i want to use in my 62 falcon, do all rangers have the offset diff. it looks to be off center about 2". thanks Kim

Yes, but they aren't all the same.

Bronco II 7.5s have a different offset (and I think it's smaller). It is NOT zero; the two axleshafts are still not interchangeable.

Rangers must have an offset driveshaft to clear the fuel tank. Bronco II tanks are behind the axle.

I've seen this "thing" about the rear end being off-set before. My '50' F-1 Ford has an off-set rear end and the tank is behind the seat. All the early Fords(60-80) has an off-set rear and they had a flat mounted tank in the center. Probably the trans was off-set also to allow room for the shifter to clear the drivers leg? MAKG is right in that Ford kept the off-set design to clear the tank. Lot of the early Mustang owners have found out how easy it is to swap in the Ranger 8.8 rear and get the bigger 10" brakes and easier to find parts. The newer Mustangs have a gas tank that straddles the drive shaft.
