turn signal problem

when i engage the turn signal (right or left), if i barely move the wheel it disengages. is there any way to adjust this?

this is for a 2000 ford ranger
-reg cab
-short bed
-2.5 litre
-auto

i have the same problem in my '93
usually ill just hold it... after putting it back on about six times... haha
high beams stay on though c(=
