has anyone ever swapped from the one piece windows to the swing out vents? can you use the window regulators from the one piece windows? how hard is it to swap the glass? are there any hidden bolts or any tricks that I should be aware of?

oh, okay. i thought you were talking about the super cab windows with the swing out style sides. i dont know why they dont put those ones your talking about on trucks anymore.... it was better than a/c! or even in the fifties, those flip up cowls that let air right into the cab.

Judging by you having an 86ish truck, hit up the junk yard and get you some doors with the vent window in them. I do believe a few of the Rangers in the style had vent windows. 83-92 body style doors will work for you.

And at least you should be able to get the glass out of the doors and the trim pieces and fit them on your doors.

I have the doors with the vents in them, I was just wondering how much of a pain that they are to remove from the doors that they are in and install in my doors and I don"t want to swap the doors entirely because the doors with the donor windows are about half rotted away. the windows look to be riveted into the holders, is there a way to swap them without drilling the rivets out?

You should be able to remove the glass from their tracks without drilling out the rivots. Then pull the trcks out as well and do the same with the other door.

Swap over all the hardware and tracks, and trim prieces. That is how I would try it at first.

its way easier to just drill the rivets out.. theyre made of aluminum usually, so drilling is pretty easy. i dont know what holds the vent windows in though?

I swapped the other way by replacing the doors.

The vent windows leak, make wind noise, block visibility
and their frames rust.

I miss mine like I'd miss a toothache.
