Help,
yes I know this has been asked before and have found most just say to change the sending unit and check the float....

Anyway, I have a 87' ranger and the gas gage has never worked since I bought the truck.
Mine is at empty when the truck's off and at this point in time reads 3/8 of a tank when the truck's running (before has read empty while running).
I just replaced the sending unit and pump in the tank and that didn't fix it.
Isn't the float part of the sending unit?
I've checked all the wires from the tank to the dash and found no issues.
Are there other grounds besides at the tank?
At this time, I have nothing to check the voltage except the old poke and light screw driver.
???????????
Thanks.d9n

if you pull your gauges out, there is something called a slosh module on the back of the gauge cluster, they go bad, that can be your problem if you checked the wiring and found nothing. mine dont work either but i just leared to live with it, i think my wire is grounded to the frame going to the tank but i dont care enough to check it lol.

thanks for the response but I not sure if the 87's had slosh modules.
Or did they?
