So my friend keeps asking me about hp upgrades for his 1999 Honda Civic LX.
I tell him to get a truck.
But what bolt on upgrades show true improvement in compact rice-burning cars?
Thanks,
Adam
trading it in for a mustang would definitely improve it........ only thing I can think of is a mega squirt and a turbo

my buddy at work has a 90 civic.. hes a huge RICER gurg!!! ask him about an axle in a ranger hes clueless haha.. but hes got a full exhaust from header back an a intake.. o ya did i mention he swaped in an acura motor.. the car sounds inSANE!!! tacks out at 8800 rpm... the way the exhaust is it sounds like a wrx lol
I'm new to the imports but I think the most common mods are Intake (go with cold air not short ram), Exhuast, Header, and then a tune / reflash. Also stuff like short throw shifter, brakes, suspension are all great to start out with.

um get a mustang or get used used to having very little power and no torque what so ever.
A power adder is the only thing that can make a honda fast...well quick. (13.80's isnt fast by any means LOL!!)

Basic bolt-on's to start:
Cold Air Intake, Cat-back, Header, Hi-flow cat, Cam Gears. Off the top of my head, I can't remember if LX's were Vtec or not, if it is, a Vtec controller is a nifty upgrade. Honda motor swaps seem to be about as hard as changing oil on a ranger. Then of course you've got your turbo kits, superchargers, nitrous. There's lots of stuff out there for honda's. Does he read Sport Compact Car, Honda Tuning, Import Tuner, Turbo & High Performance, or any of those?
