Well, with this '02 2.3, I'm hearing things I'm not used to hearing.
When the cold engine first starts up, it sounds like its racing but it isn't since it usually spins to about 1800 for a few seconds then settles to about 1100 rpms while warming up.
The engine sounds goes from a deafening roar to a mild running very quickly but with no change in the rpms.
I'm used to a mechanical viscous fan. Not some computer driven mechanical fan.
Does this viscous fan lockup or go into a full-fan-mode initially during startup?
Why does this engine sound like a jet engine at initial startup?
