2.9 Trans help!

I have an 86 Ranger 4x4 5 speed, and I need to know if a 5 speed trans from 4.0 would bolt up? or if that metal trans/block plate will fit off the 4.0 and work on the 2.9?

I'm in Eastern NC, I just need to know if the trans cover plates are the same on the 2.9 and 4.0

Yes it will, but you wont be happy with the results.

The ratios in the 4.0 tranny dont exactly mtch the torque band of the 2.9.

Basically you'll have a dog turd as far as power. How do I know? I was in a pinch myself and did this exact same swap. I hated it so much that I MADE myself forgo things I needed in order to get a 2.9 tranny faster!
