I have a 90 ranger with the 4.0L 5spd and Im wondering what trannys could I use out of another vehicle? Like could i use one that was bolted up to a 2.9 or 3.0 out of another ranger?

all transmissions that bolt up to other 4.0's or to 2.9's will physically bolt up, however, i would only run a 4.0 tranny behind it like the m50d, as it is built to handle the low grunt torque that the 4.0 puts out, a 2.9 tranny will work but will eventually give out

Alright that makes sence. Thank you

The 2.8,2.9 and 4.0 share bellhousing patterns.

The 3.0 has its own bell housing pattern.

The 2.3 has its own bellhousing pattern.

I am not sure if the 2.5 has its own or shares with the 2.3.

the 2.3 and 2.5 lima engines share a pattern. the 2.3 duratec uses the duratec bolt pattern.
