A Pinzgauer is not something you see in the U.S. every day.
The wife and I were going out to dinner yesterday and came up behind a funky little cabover 4x4 truck with a troop carrier bed, couple of guys riding in the back.
The wife: "What kinda truck is that?"
Me: "A Pinzgauer."
The wife: "Only you would know that."
Me: :D
Pinzgauers are sort of the Swiss Army's version of a Hummer. The vehicular equivalent of a mountain goat. Found a few links on Google.

They are around but your right there are very few.

A friend of mine has a Unimog. It goes well off road but REALLY sucks at actually getting down the road. I think his max speed is 50-55mph.

They are pretty popular up here in Alaska, course anything with a front driveshaft is for that matter.

If you can't go through it or around it, then go over it.

Yeah, I was eyeballing that 1969 Unimog with 18k miles.

REDBULL has a Moded Pinzgauer they use for promotions. Its a 6x6 with front and rear warn winches, PIAA lights all over, exo cage, exterior Sound system. Two years ago when Boston got about 36" of snow and the city shut down, the guy who drives it was driving around, we were playing football, and he stoped and chilled and handed out free redbull.

They call it the mobile Party assault vehicle.

2800 for a set of rebuilt front and rear axles off a unimog doesn't seem like that bad of a price.
