what do i need to convert my 2.9 w/ auto to a 2.3 or 2.5 liter? truck is an 89 ranger
Why?
If you do the work yourself it's fairly inexpensive once you round up all the parts...but it is a project that can have hidden costs such as motor mounts, replacing parts that may not work, drive shaft connections that may need to be altered (since the 2.9 and 2.3 use different U-joints), fabing or buying various other parts under the hood that are different between the motors (although they are similar in some ways)...
If you get a doner truck that is complete it makes it easier...as long as the engine works...
