avi video files??

hey guys ive got a few AVI VIDEO files an cant seem to get a picture... all i get is sound.... i have windows vista an iam using windows media player 11.... with my old computer i was able to view them but the computer craped the bed an now i have this nice new one an cant seem to get it to work.. any ideas??? on what i need to do?
i would post this in the computer corner sub forum but its GONE haha

if i recall, you need the DivX codec.

try download.com.

Personally, I avoid Media Player.

For AVI files I use the Divx player. It's free and woks great. Using the same file on the same (slow) notebook I get smoother playback than with MP.

You can also use Quicktime with the Divx plugin.

Not sure if it's available for VistaME yet though :tease:
