I've got wheel locks on my truck and like an idiot... yes, I lost the key. Any idea of a good way to get them off w/o screwing up the wheel too much?

Try a wheel shop they might have there own keys for that sort of thing, but don't know for sure.

If you don't need to reuse them and have access to a welder, weld a nut onto the end and put a regular socket on it to get it off.

That's a good idea. Might end up having to do that.

find a 2 point socket thats slightly smaller but will be able to be hammered onto the nuts, it will take them right off

You mean 6 point.

Do you have the card with the serial number that came with them? You should be able to get another one from the manufacturer.

You could also grind flat spots on 2 sides with a grinder, then take them off using an open-end wrench.

i have been in this boat.. my tool kit slid out of my truck with my wheel key in it.. so i took some nuts an welded them to the locks on the wheels.. put a rag to catch the splater an they came off no problem.

A pair of vice grips work if there's enough room.

take it to a tire store. they have a "wheel lock removal kit". if you go inside they will want to charge you $50+. just talk to one of the techs. most techs will take them of for you if you give 5 or 10 bucks. or you can go to napa and buy a bolt extractor, its basicly a socket with left handed flute on the inside.

Nevermind. I found the code for the replacement key.

Thanks for the suggestions, though. They might come in handy if I ever face this problem again.

+1 if it does ever happen again take it to a tire shop, i work at discount tire and if you are buying tires we dont even charge, if not we charge like $20 and it only takes like 10 min. we have special lock removal kits.
