Ranger sales are up 16.8% through March this year.

Hummm. I wonder why. Could it be fuel prices? We knew all along that Rangers are the best.

That's good but, where'd you get your information? I think the Ranger would sell real great considering it's reliable and economical. Maybe Ford will surprise us all and redesign it or something. Who knows though.

i think it might be the price. around here they dropped like crazy in the last couple of years. they start at like 15k, you can get a base model 4x4 for 19k. or you can get a fx4 with leather, auto, fancy stereo for 28k

They are great trucks. I bought my 02 in 2005 for 13.5k. So the prices are right for the best made small truck in my opinion.

Passing by the local Ford dealer, I saw two 2.3L base models (but with air and auto) marked at $11,899. So I traded my '88 2.3L base model for one of them!

March incentives included 0% or $4,000 rebate.

I HAD to do it.

I have yet to sell a ranger. we don't even have any new ones in stock. we have a super clean 94 old man truck, 2wd 3.0 automatic, with only 88k on it. its been sitting here for awhile now. people buy 1/2-1tons all the time so they can dd them 400 miles a day.

Yeah, what's the deal? I have been to my ford dealership like 10 times this year already, and they still ain't got no rangers.

Near?

I haven't seen a Ranger commercial in more than a year. And even then it was tacked on the tail end of one that mainly aimed at F-Series.

I counted 36+ 2008 Rangers at work today. From base reg cab to loaded FX4 and every colour.

My g/f just bought a black 2008 4x4 Ranger with a 5-speed, and an 8.8 with 4.10s.

I don't know why but the 08 Ranger 4X4 with a manual trans seems to be rare around here.:dntknw: I have yet to see a new FX4 with one.

I got my 05 brand new for around 11 with trade on my old B3000 (got $1,000 for that, looking back I should have just kept it).

I've tried to talk a few people into Rangers, but they all seem to want a 4.0 and good gas mileage, when I tell them they can't have both, they shy away.

Yeah it's pretty wierd: my new one gets a good solid 24-25mpg in my mixed driving, has plenty of pep too: but somehow people want bigger stuff that they THINK has more power or sophistication, OR want a hybred that doesn't give them anything they claim to!:dntknw:

Yeah the current 2.3 4 cylinder for the Ranger has much more horse power then the previous models and not much less then the 3.0 v6 AND its great on gas.
I think it has more to do with bragging rights though then power for some people. They want to say they have a V6 but get the good gas milelage as well. You can do that with many cars and SUV's today but unfortunately pick-up trucks wont get better than 20mpg with a V6.

I myself also am thinking of getting a 2008 2.3L Ranger. Just have to decide what options I want. The incentives right now are only $2500 and unfortunately there is barely any stock out there. I may have to order one in which case there goes the incentives.:fie:

I just wanted a replacement for my old "stripper." The incentive was $4,000, but the base truck price was &15K + even with them throwing in the auto, air, and better seats. I'm likin' it real well. It's a lot better than my previous '88 stripper.

^^^^^Wow $11,000. Not bad. The one I priced out came to $15,645 with the incentive but i doubt I will get it if I have to order. I will get the A plan though. I did add some stuff like cruise control, wheel lip molding , better hauling, sliding rear window,cd player. But NO power windows or locks. Both my power windows went out at the same time on my grand am and cost $900+ to get repaired. Never again if I can avoid it. I missed the old manuals on my Mustang. :) I will get the A plan though. How is the pickup on the 4 cylinder? I know many here say it has pep. I am going to test drive one this week. I have never had anything less than a 6. So this is new territory for me. With gas prices though this would seem to be the best bet. Im tired of drivng lower vehicles in michigan weather, my 2000 grand am has given me nothing but problems the last 8-1/2 years.(major problems with there coolant system) Plus I have needed to haul stuff every year and always have to call someone.:) So I figured if I wanted a truck, compact was the way to go and the most fuel efficent I could find.

Im in my 30's now so I usually dont go above the speed limit but i also dont want to be puttering along when I need to pull into traffic quickly. :icon_cheers: So Im hoping this is a good engine. i do know it has more hp then the 90's version.

believe it or not but i got my fx4 fully loaded but no auto and leather but everything else for $19k instead of the full price for 28k. i'm in the military and i bought through them while i was in korea and when i picked it up from the dealer they ask how i got the price so low and this would be the first 4wd truck they had in the past year.

^^^^Thats not bad. Right now with incentives you can get it for about 22,000. Plus with an A plan maybe 20,000. I wish I could but I cannot justify getting a 4x4 with V6 because of the gas mileage. The 4x4's only get about 14-17(city/highway) the 4x2 with the duratech gets about 19-24.(add a mile or 2 with the manual) I do to much driving and need someting that gets a little better on the gas. The 4 cylinder 4x2 will be good enough for now. I may get a lift later for it.

Hmmm all the epa ratings I have seen, list it much lower. Of course they are now done with the air conditioning running. Great that your getting that gas mileage.:icon_cheers:

well even in the city no matter what i get 17-19 mpg with or without the a/c running. now its different on the highway as low as 19-25 mpg highway depending on road conditions, hills and if a/c on or not.
