So, I was cruising down the freeway at 70mph after getting the 'shake' figured out.

RPMS go through the roof (like if you pushed in the clutch) and it's making a wierd sound... so I killed the engine.

After I get it stopped, I go to crank the engine over, and the starter's not turning the engine. Honestly, I don't think it's engaging the flywheel.

Pulled the starter, and the bendix moves when you hit the key, and the starter spins over.

What could cause this?

FWIW, I just changed the fluid in the tranny, and it drove ~70 miles before this happened. :not_i: :fie::annoyed:

turned the engine over with a socket on the crank, and the flexplate turns beautifully

I can alos move the flexplate by hand with the engine off...

bad torque convertor?

**** me

it's a broken flexplate...

biggest clue to this was the starter spinning/not engaging. That and the 'being able to sping the flexplate by hand in park'

That sucks PT.

It moves under it's own power.

don't forget abotu the crankshaft to flexplate spacer

or pilot bushing for an automatic. Ran me $25, but it's worth it. the old one was fuckered
