almost positive they are old closed knuckle axles. They are weaker then a regular Dana 60 (the gears are stonger but the outers and axle shafts are weaker.)

Is the f350 a 99 or newer? the superdutys had a different lug pattern than the old body stlye trucks. U could also try a super 60 out of a f 450 or 550 superduty too.

its a 79 f350.i sold it to him as 2wd, then he paid me to convert it to 4wd, i put a d44 in but he wants to run 37s and be safe so ill just put in a d60.the reason i asked about the d 70 is because he kind of wanted it to match the rear axle. 8x6.5 bolt pattern.

any ford dana 60 will be the same bolt pattern up to 1997. 8-6.5
i think the older pre 88 chevys adn pre 94 dodges had them too, but im not 100 percent sure

I call Bullsheit :bsflag: isnt the strongest dana 60 you can make with the 35 spline D70 outers on the dana 60 inner? if so how could the 70 be weaker than the Dana 60? maybe i have no idea what im talking about but im sure ive heard of someone local that has that setup. -CT

Because the old Closed knuckle D70's have smaller ujoints then that of open knuckle D60's. There are open knuckle D70's but they are rare.

I've been told the newer unit bearinged axles from the megacab dodges are d70's...could have been misinformed though.
