1990 ranger 4.0L auto stall when put into drive?

Just got a 90 ranger 4.0L auto it seems that the truck stalls when I put it into drive? It operates fine when in reverse. Also it is hard to start once it has stalled out. Also it seems that the truck is running a little on the rich side.:hottubfun:
