Coming April - 3, Independent truck drivers are going on strike due to the high cost of diesel fuel.

most in my area do fuel out of jobber pocket...thought that was hashed out in the last strike and the reason they werent striking at 3 bux a gallon.

And what should I stock up on? If its bullets, I got them already.

umm, this is like every other fuel strike that gets talked about. It'll never really happen.

Fuel for one, and food. They are serious this time. I know a guy that I stayed with when my home burned down,he is coming in tomorrow and about 15 others just in this area. In his hometown of VA, his brother and 20 of his colleagues are on their way home as well. Through the channels all the chatter is see ya in 3 days. 3 days don't sound like much, but it will place a major dent on the economy. My friend spends about 45% of his earnings just on fuel.

They need to just shut them down wherever they are at. If they are on the freeway that would better. Get more attention that way!

If it's just owner operators, I don't think it will make much difference, there's still plenty of company and local drivers to pick up the slack. I agree though, diesel is hellaciously expensive, aren't auxillary power units to reduce idling mandatory now? I drove long haul for a year, a couple years ago, it's a tough gig. I think every body just needs to start conserving in all aspects of their lives because this whole damn world is going to shit real quick.

BS.....my dad is an owner operator.....he owns 3 trucks and has them all on the road.....it is all talk.....

talked to dad its the 1st, said all the companies including the big companies are shutting down unofficially, expected to cost the oil industry up toward a $1 billion,

guess it cant be classified as a strike as some companies are gov. owned

I really don't see how a handful of of owner op's is gonna fix anything. not that I don't want gas prices to come down, but honestly will a hundred or so drivers really make that much of a difference?? I doubt it, but we'll see.

Kind of the same idea as when the emails go around tellin everyone to not buy gas on such and such day, like one day is gonna make or break anything. heck the petrol companies will more than break even from everyone buyin the fuel the day or two before hand.

Like I said I'm not sayin this because I don't want the prices to come down, trust me I do ($3.19 right now by me) is just friggin ridiculous.

GOOD LUCK none the less.
