I now have in my possession a 94 Explorer 4x4 that is complete and runs bu the body is junk. My 94 Ranger 2wd has 300K on the clock and I'd really like a 4x4. How different are the engine x members? I am fully capable of doing the swap but just wondering if it's worth the effort to swap in the 4.0 and 4x4 stuff.

Why not try a body swap there Phil? Same frame and all after all.

Not sure if the wheelbase is the same, Sean. Every Ranger cab on Explorer frame I've seen hasn't had a bed on it. Makes me wonder if the rear wheels ar in the right spot or not.

I'm going to measure the Explorer and Ranger today to see if it can be done. The Ex is going to need some parts though. The EGR tube is fawked and it's going to need a few other things too. I'm debating if I want to keep the AC compressor there or not. Onboard air would be way cool. My question still stands though. Is there any difference between crossmembers?
