8.8" Cross shaft question...?

I just picked up a 31-spline 8.8 out of an explorer and want to regear to 4.56's. I also plan to get a lockright for it.

To run 4.56's in the 8.8" it calls for a notched cross shaft (extra $) however, when I bought my lockright for my 7.5 it came with a new cross shaft to use.

Will the lockright for the 8.8" come with a cross shaft? Or do I need to get the notched cross shaft too?

I'm not sure if it will come with one. Either way I'd run a full crosspin and grind the inner edge of the ring gear, my 7.5 lock-right wouldn't go together with a notched crosspin because it wouldn't come far enough out to let the spacers move inwards to install the c-clips.

Grind the tip of a couple ring teeth so a solid pin can slip past it (won't hurt the gear, the pinion doesn't mesh at the tips of the teeth). The solid pin is much stronger than a notched one.

Alright. I thought I remembered something about grinding a bit on the ring gear but wasn't sure.

Just trying to put all this together in my mind before I start ordering things.

I could wait a bit and install the locker when I do the gears... couldn't I install it before I put the ring gear in then not have to grind it? That almost seems to be a better option.

(I'm new to doing gears, I'm having a friend walk me through it the first time.)

You wont be able to install the c clips unless the crosspin is removed, because the spacers cant move inwards because they hit the crosspin.
