What's the largest tire size that'll still fit within the stock spare tire location?

I just bought an Explorer and it had a 30/9.50/15 under it. Im going to try to fit a 31/10.50/15 under it.

If you have a compressor you could deflate a bigger tire and stuff it in there. I think that's how VW puts a full size on the Toerag.

I had my 31-10.50R15 in there for awhile, required use of my floor jack handle to pry it out for use though. Its now mounted in the bed.

must have been a "small" 31...i tried lifting a 31 between the frame rails and she wouldnt have none of that noise.
