I have a '97 4wd B4000.is there anyway to get rid of that third o2 sensor so that i can run the truck with no catalytic converter

Disabling a cat is a Federal crime.

And you won't gain any performance, either.

And I don't want to breathe the crap you spew for no reason.

funny you don't want to breath what my truck is putting out, what's your chevy run on, electric motors.

Umm, that Chevy sees maybe 100 miles a year. Can you say the same for your truck?

And it has every last bit of emissions equipment on it in working order, including the lean burn carburetor and heat stove.

Without the cat, your vehicle will be much dirtier, as it isn't designed to be clean without it.

And notice the qualifier "for no reason." You're proposing to do away with the cat "just because." No, you won't gain performance, and any changes in sound can be done in other ways.

Bad people that do things like that use spark plug anti-foulers for a 300 ford I6. You'll have to figure out the rest.

If you remove the third 02 sensor it won't change the way the engine runs but, It will have a check engine light no matter what you do.
Removing the Cat will not solve anything unless the cat is bad, then it should be replaced, not removed.

catalytic converters haven't hindered the performance of any sub-600hp engine since the 70's

Agreed, you'll be hard pressed to see or hear any improvement from this.
