Thinking of replacing the Wheel bearings in my front end this weekend when I replace the P.S. Axle. How many bearings does the Ranger have? I mean like on my old 1980 F150 (and all the F150's before that) it had a inner and outer spindle bearing and a inner and outer wheel bearings. Had to use a spindle puller to gain access to the axle to be removed as well.
Now does the ranger have basically the same setup?

It is similar. I am actually doing the same thing right this moment. New ball joints and wheel bearings.

There are the inner and outer wheel bearings on each side. They are the same so you will need 4 bearing sets.

Inside the spindle there is one needle bearing and a seal. you will need 2 of each.

You will need 2 wheel bearing seals.

I highly recommend a bearing packer. This is my first time using one and it makes life so much easier. They are really cheap too. Mine was only $7.

Don't forget the fresh tubes of grease for Disk brake wheel bearings and a couple cans of brake cleaner to clean up the mess before it gets on the pads.

Oh and the spindle nut socket. The one for 1/2 ton applications work fits the D35 spindle nut.

the later 95-97 seal from the axleshaft to the back of the knuckle is supposed to have a more positive seal and can be adapted to the 90-94 d35.i don't know the particulars but allen d the moderator knows more about it.i have the older seals and the little spindle bearing gets contaminated very easy in mud or water.i smoked one stub shaft already because of it
